Legend says that wedding planners, specifically Diane, is an actual and legit Fairy Godmother. So, with a stroke of her wand, your wedding is beautifully designed and completed in three seconds, then you get a on horse and ride off into the sunset. The truth? Diane is a human. Just a regular ol’ gal, with no magical dust or flying attributes. Just someone who gets things done. The Dee Kay Events team also works behind the scenes to make sure Aunt Betty doesn’t hit the bottle before noon, your groomsmen are on time and that your bridesmaids are reminded that it’s your day, not theirs. We also schedule the heck out of your wedding, find you really awesome people to work with and give you lots of hugs and encouragement throughout the process. Let’s face it: wedding planning is not easy. But, hiring us to take care of everything is simple.
A trustworthy friends told me that wedding and event planners are made from 2 parts confetti, 1 part glitter and 3 parts champagne. Is this true?!
Although we may design and execute magical events, we’re just made of hard work, creativity and a love for what we do! But, please do send our regards to your friend. They seem pretty awesome!
Every time we hear this question we get really sad. (Just like when children are referred to as husky. Just gets under our skin!) It’s shocking to us that couples who reach out to vendors need to even ask this question. Last time we checked, love is love. Dee Kay Events chooses to live and create a space where we feel blessed and excited to live in a world that has chosen love and acceptance over prejudice.
All of our hearts were made in the same light and we choose to shine our love as bright as we can.
We work with the best of the best in the industry. The vendors we work with are professional, reliable and most importantly, committed to working with both straight and same-sex couples.
Lots of our couples feel the same way. Some of us actually felt the same way as you. But, what we found is that if you take a deep breath and do one thing at a time, the wedding planning anxiety goes away.

Cake? Did you just say cake? Mmm.
Although we love baking sometimes, we don’t actually put the icing on your wedding cake. But, what we do is suggest the most delicious bakers within your budget that can make fondant look and taste good. The same goes for everything else on your wedding day. Consider us your wedding and event day consultants. You have a question, we give you the solution.
We have planned events as short as a few weeks and as long as two years! If it fits into the calendar, we can do it.
Of course, looking for the right planner right after you are engaged is always strongly encouraged. It gives you more choice of vendor availability and less stress as well.
Unfortunately, a groom is not part of our event and design proposal.

The best part about working with a wedding and event planner is their extensive list of reliable and professional vendors that they have worked with in the past. But, if you’re asking what happens when Mother Nature kicks in or if a limo breaks down? I wouldn’t worry. We always have a back up plan for the back up plan for the back up plan.
We believe in highlighting the person that you are and the love that you share. We wouldn’t suggest a glam wedding if you want to be barefoot on the sand and vice versa. We strive to celebrate YOU.
Fashion and trends are important. It gives inspiration. Our best advice? The old adage: Trends come and go. Great style is forever.
We first ask you a series of questions stemming from what you want, what you do not want and what is most important to you. From there, we ask you how much you ideally want to spend on your event.
We then work with that number and estimate how much will go to every portion of your wedding dependent on what is most important to you. For example, if music is at the top of your list, we will allocate a bit more for extraordinary entertainment as opposed to any extras like a photo booth.
We balance your needs and wants to what is practical with the budget you have in mind. We believe in happy beginnings, not going into debt.
Someone usually splurges on an item because of lack of education. We will not suggest something that will make you go over your budget. But, we will suggest vendors that will bring value to your day and make you happy.

Pirin tablets. Lots and lots of pirin tablets. But, we also have things to save the day like safety pins, hairspray, lavender oil and plenty of other gems that you’d thought you wouldn’t need. To be over prepared is our specialty.

We believe that the heart wants what it wants. As for seeing this first hand, unfortunately, we have not seen it. But, we are huge J.Lo fans. And, can we take a minute to be grateful for the McConaissance?
